The internship period can range from a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 6 months, with the duration decided by the Department based on the selected domain. Eligible candidates can apply online on the Department’s website, specifying their desired internship period and area of interest.

About the Directorate of Forest Education

Directorate of Forest Education Dehradun is a premier organization under the aegies of Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India which imparts training to State Forests Service Officers (SFS) and Forest Range Officers (FRO) in the country. The Directorate was part of the Forest Research institute and Colleges, Dehradun and remained responsible for professional and technical level training/education in the country.The post of DFE was created in 1953 under the FRI and Colleges to assist the President FRI.

The Directorate ensure “Standard and Quality” of forestry training in the country and in its current form, functions under direct administrative control of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India to take care of all aspects of training of SFS officers and FROs. The Directorate also supplements the efforts of the State Government for the training of Frontline Forest Staff (Forest Guards, Foresters, Deputy Rangers).

Internship Duration

Duration of the internship will be decided by the Department based on domain selected by candidate and shall not exceed more than 90 days in normal circumstances. Only in cases wherein a significant work has been done by an intern and can be taken to logical conclusion, PCCF may give extension of maximum one month.

Eligibility Criteria for Govt Internship

The internship training is open only to students who are studying from recognized schools, institutions and universities.

Preference will be given to those with clear Statement of Purpose of internship.

Must have attained 18 years of age.

Procedure for Application:

  • Interested applicants must apply online on the Department’s website.
  • Applications should be submitted three months in advance, specifying the desired Govt Internship period and area of interest.

Selection and Modalities

  • Applications will be scrutinized by the Research Advisory Committee on a merit basis. Preference given to innovative ideas aligning with the Department’s requirements.

Experience Certificate

Upon successful comAt the end of the successful completion of internship, the interns will be awarded a “Certificate”along with a grading based on the performance of the intern. .pletion, interns will receive a “Certificate” along with a grading based on their performance.

Stipend

No stipend will be paid.
