Great news for college graduates looking to land their first IT job! IIT Madras Free Training IT Programme for College Students. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), in partnership with the IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, has launched a free three-month IT training program. This program is designed to equip students with the technical skills they need to succeed in IT infrastructure and helpdesk support roles.
The program is completely free of cost and will run from July to September 2024. Classes will be held in a classroom setting at IIT Madras. While the program won’t provide financial aid, it will offer valuable placement assistance to help graduates find jobs after completing the program. This assistance will include mock interviews and campaigns to showcase the graduates’ skills to potential employers.
IIT Madras Free Training Programme Details
The training programme is set to commence in the first week of July 2024, with the last date for applications being June 12, 2024.
The course will run for three months, from July to September 2024, with a tentative start date in June. It will be a classroom-based programme covering a range of essential topics, including:
- Networking Essentials: Students will learn the fundamentals of computer networks, including different network types, network devices, and network protocols.
- Cloud Fundamentals: This module will introduce students to cloud computing concepts, including cloud storage, cloud services, and cloud security.
- Ticketing Tools: Students will gain hands-on experience with ticketing systems used to track and resolve IT support issues.
- Linux and Windows Basics: The program will cover the basics of both Linux and Windows operating systems, which are widely used in IT environments.
- Storage and Backup Fundamentals: Students will learn about different data storage solutions and backup strategies to ensure data security.
- Soft Skills: The program recognizes the importance of soft skills in the workplace. Students will participate in workshops to develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Eligibility Criteria of IIT Madras Free Training
The programme is open to 2023 and 2024 graduates with a BSc in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biotechnology, as well as BCA students. Applicants must have a minimum aggregate score of 60 percent. It is important to note that no stipend will be paid to participants.

The primary objective of the training is to prepare students for roles in IT support teams within small to mid-sized organisations. The programme aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by providing practical, hands-on experience in key technical areas.
Placement Assistance
